Specialities

We are unique in offering a 100% pure bespoke cabinetry service driven by online design tools but if we were to pick out a couple of areas where we feel we have really nailed a methodology:

Angled cabinetry

Storage understairs or under a sloping ceiling needs angled cabinetry to maximise the space and our system that pre-calculates all the part sizes comes into its own. Traditionally carpenters fitting such a space would take several measurements and then draw a full-size diagram on a piece of MDF etc from which they would work out the sizes and angles required. This is a subjective process so the final results are determined by the experience and diligence of the carpenter.

We take a different approach whereby we calculate the sizes and angles and turn them into instructions to drive CNC machinery. We have developed a number of trade practices which we will keep to ourselves here. Suffice to say we think the end result is accurate and high quality. There are various ways of making angled joints meet. The way we do it is to bi-sect the lower angle which gives a neat appearance and ensures the core of the material is not visible.

The images below are generated by our bespoke CAD/CAM system and shows the angle detail of two cabinets from a run of angled cabinets. We show with and without doors so that you can see the clearances respect the angle of the cabinets. Zoom in to see greater detail as of course the images are in vector format.

The panels are dimensionally accurate and the angle making method has many benefits. One of these benefits is that the length of the left cabinet right side is exactly the same as the length of the right cabinet’s left side. This means you know that it is going to fit together perfectly.

Being immodest for a moment, it takes some serious math and manufacturing prowess to pull this off. But it is done and it doesn’t require the machine operators to do anything special. From time to time an order may miss a hinge plate etc due to a hardware picking error, but will the angles of an angled unit be wrong? - never. With fulfilling order, in some ways the hard things are easy and the easy things are sometimes hard!
